What are your best healthy eating habits?
The perfect diet is easy to admire and surprisingly hard to live with. I used to think eating well meant following stricter rules, cutting out favourite foods and promising myself that this time I would finally stick to healthier eating habits. But the more I tried to control every bite, the more exhausting it became.
The real shift came when I stopped chasing perfection and started building habits I could actually sustain. It’s about changing the little things I do repeatedly.
I’ve found that one of the best things I can do is make the healthier choice the easy choice. If I have something prepared, I’m much more likely to eat it. If I have to think about what I’m going to eat when I’m already hungry, suddenly every biscuit in the cupboard becomes extremely persuasive!
I’m also learning not to throw the whole day away because I’ve made one choice I’m not happy with. One meal doesn’t undo everything. I can simply make a different choice at the next meal.
And perhaps the biggest lesson for me has been not trying to change everything at once. One small habit, repeated until it becomes almost boring, seems to have far more staying power than a dramatic new regime that makes me feel virtuous for five days.
For me, healthy eating is becoming less about discipline and more about creating a rhythm that I can actually live with.
Because in the end, I don’t want to be “good” at eating.
I want eating well to become something I simply do.
